The integration of inside and outside space is an integral part of our philosophy at Archinia. We can use the land to create sustainable solutions for shelter, water, vegetation, and light and shade. We do not and will not design any building that doesn't take into account its environment. We create places of sanctuary - in and out.
We are known for our redesigns of existing pool and spa facilities into places of respite, for our farm designs, and most famously - our original labyrinths!
Labyrinths have been used by many cultures throughout time as a means for centering. Ancient cultures used labyrinths as a form of communication with Spirit. Romans used labyrinths for training their horses and riders how to interact with one another. Medieval labyrinths were used as a form of meditation. Today, labyrinths are used for all these purposes. The labyrinth has no wrong turns. Only new views. It is not a maze. It is based on principles of clearing – each turn you make in a labyrinth is intended to clear a chakra, or an issue you are facing, so that when you reach the middle, your heart/mind/spirit is clear of illusions of the real word, and ready to receive inspiration. Archinia designs and installs entirely unique labyrinths that reflect our clients' diverse needs and beliefs. Some of our labyrinths are handicapped accessible installations of stone and plantings, others are natural grass labyrinths used for bringing healing to kids with emotional and learning disabilities through relationship with horses, some are stained concrete driveways or sidewalks, and still others are created for canned food drives - where the cans make the “walls” and the donators can find peace - not just by giving, but also in receiving healing from the gifts given by those that share their purpose.
